Small air compressors are needed for people who are in the painting and graphics business such as air brush painting of motorcycles and cars, painting of models and crafts, painting of signs, and even fine art illustrations. The need also extends to the cosmetics industry for air brush spray-on tanning, fingernail decoration, and body art. Anyone in need of an air brush should have a dedicated small air compressor for convenience.
Features to look for are lack of pulsing of the air, a reasonable size tank and quiet operation. It is also more convenient to have a long cord to bring the compressor close to the work instead of long air hoses. Preferably if you do a lot of work you should look for quiet operation too.
Other features to look for are safety shutoff, moisture filter and an automatic start and shutoff as the air pressure raises and lowers. For jobs that require more viscous paints and larger volumes of paint or material to be sprayed you will need a medium sized air brush compressor, do not under size as you will run out of air too quickly leading to frustration. Check the air brush if it needs high air volume or high air pressure, then match it to the compressor. A regulator is also a plus where larger air compressors are needed.
You can buy kits with a gravity feed air compressor and a gravity feed airbrush in a combined kit. These are low volume compressors that can be used with the gravity feed airbrushes. Where low volumes of paint and good control are required these are ideal.
